Welcome from Mrs. Dutko!
Hello there! I'm Mrs, Dutko, the speech-language Pathologist (SLP) for Seneca East Local Schools. As the SLP for our district, I work with students from preschool through high school to support their communication development and help them succeed in the classroom. Speech and language skills play a vital role in learning, social interaction, and overall academic success.
I provide support to students who may have difficulties in areas such as:
-
Articulation – producing speech sounds clearly
-
Language – understanding and using spoken language (receptive and expressive language)
-
Fluency – speaking smoothly without stuttering
-
Voice – using appropriate pitch, volume, or vocal quality
-
Pragmatics – using language appropriately in social situations
Referrals can be made when there are concerns about a student’s communication that may be impacting their learning or participation in school. The evaluation process includes teacher/staff input, observations, and, when appropriate, formal testing. Based on this information, the educational team determines if speech-language services are needed to support the student’s access to the curriculum.
Once a student qualifies for services, I provide individualized or small group therapy, collaborate with teachers and staff to support communication across school settings, and regularly monitor progress. I also work with families to help carry over skills at home and answer any questions about their child’s communication development.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s speech and language development. I’m here to help!
